Build
A revenue plan built toward a multiple of current state. We establish the pricing, service mix, market position, demand channels and financial controls required to support that trajectory — and the sequence in which each has to arrive.
Kent Management Group Consulting
KMGC is a general business consulting firm. We work with owner-operated companies across the service industries — contracting, water treatment, groundskeeping, janitorial, property management, real estate — designing the strategy, structure and execution capacity that carries a company to a multiple of its current state, holds it there, and positions its owner for exit.
Our values are rooted in the Word of God, and the growth we build is meant to be righteous before it is large. We work with a small number of owner-led companies at a time — ones where we believe we can materially change the outcome. This site is a record of that work, not an advertisement for it.
Completed Engagement · Janitorial Services
A janitorial company we took from its first day — no revenue, no employees, no infrastructure — through the full arc: revenue model, pricing, market development, hiring and org structure, operating systems, and the management team to run it day to day. It sold above the standard multiple for its category.
One engagement, carried from formation through sale. Client identity held in confidence.
The Firm
Our clients have a sector and a situation in common. The sector: companies whose value is created through labor, dispatch, recurring relationships and reputation — contracting, water treatment, groundskeeping, janitorial, property management — rather than a product on a shelf. The situation: a company that has outgrown the way it was originally built, run by an owner who is still the reason it works.
That focus is deliberate. Service businesses succeed and fail for reasons specific to them, and generic advisory work tends to miss those reasons entirely. We have built, scaled and sold in these industries, and every strategy we design is shaped by that.
KMGC is not a marketing agency, a bookkeeping service, or a staffing firm, though our mandates routinely touch all three. We are the strategic layer above them — the group an owner engages when the company has outgrown the way it was originally built and needs a structure capable of carrying it further.
We handle the back end: strategy, financial structure, market position, organizational design, and the execution plan that ties them together. Then we stay through implementation, because a strategy no one carries out is not a strategy.
Every mandate is a stewardship, written toward the same end: an enterprise that runs without its owner, and an owner free to leave it.
The Mandate
We do not write growth plans as an exercise. Where the company and its market support it, the target is not ten or twenty percent — it is a multiple of current revenue, up to five times, grown righteously, with the operating capacity to sustain it and a defined exit for the owner-operator. Everything we implement is placed with that end state in view.
A revenue plan built toward a multiple of current state. We establish the pricing, service mix, market position, demand channels and financial controls required to support that trajectory — and the sequence in which each has to arrive.
Growth that cannot be held is a liability. We install the organizational structure, leadership bench, reporting discipline and operating rhythm that let the company carry its new volume without degrading service or burning through its people.
We build the business toward an owner-independent state and prepare it for transaction — clean financials, documented process, transferable relationships, retained management. The objective is a sale executed above the standard multiple for the category.
Practice Areas
These are not separate offerings sold individually. They are the components of a single mandate, weighted to whatever the company in front of us actually needs.
Service mix, pricing structure, margin design, recurring revenue, territory and capacity planning — assembled into a believable path to a multiple of current revenue.
Job costing, cash flow, collections, budgets and forecasts, capital planning, and the reporting an owner needs to make decisions on time rather than in hindsight.
Positioning, brand and web presence, lead acquisition and attribution, referral and channel partnerships, and the tracking that proves which spending produced which revenue.
Org structure ahead of headcount, role definition, compensation and incentive design, hiring sequence, and the development of a management layer capable of running the company.
Scheduling and dispatch logic, workforce productivity, service standards, vendor and inventory structure, systems selection — approached strategically, because in a service company operations is the strategy.
Owner-independence, clean books, documented process, transferable contracts and relationships, a defensible valuation, and preparation for diligence well before a buyer is at the table.
Embedded Capacity
Roughly eighty percent of what a service company does is operations. A strategy that ignores that is a document, not a plan. So while our mandate is strategy and execution, the work necessarily runs through how the company actually delivers.
Growth also leaves a company permanently a man down. The role a business needs at four million in revenue does not exist at one million, and the gap between the two is where most companies stall out.
Where a mandate requires it, we step into that seat ourselves and hold it — running the function, building the process, and hiring our own replacement into it. We are not taking the work off an owner's hands permanently. We are holding the position open until the company has grown into being able to fill it properly.
It is not the headline of what we do. It is often what makes the rest of it possible. Whatever the growth requires, we do it with the company — not from across the table.
Our Foundation
Our values are rooted in the Word of God.
We believe a company is a stewardship before it is an asset, and that growth is only worth building if it is built righteously — honest in its numbers, fair in its dealings, and good for the people who do the work. That is the standard we hold the companies we advise to, because it is the standard we hold ourselves to first.
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”
Proverbs 16:3
Under Mandate
KMGC currently advises a concentrated group of operating companies and asset holdings across Texas. Client identities are held in confidence.
Taking a residential and commercial contractor to its next size — building the margin structure, management layer and growth plan it needs to carry more volume profitably, and staying through the implementation.
Building a regional water-treatment company into a durable residential and commercial platform — expanding demand, opening commercial channels, and proving exactly which spending produces which revenue.
Advising a recurring-contract groundskeeping company as it scales — route and crew economics that hold at volume, revenue structure, and an org design that doesn't depend on the owner running every crew.
A property management company advised on portfolio structure, tenant and lease operations, maintenance and vendor systems, fee and revenue model, and the build-out required to take on managed doors at scale.
Property acquisition, development and holding structure — advised alongside the operating businesses, as an asset base built in parallel with enterprise value rather than after it.
Across active mandates and completed engagements, KMGC has directed strategy for enterprises representing eight figures in combined revenue and asset value.
Property Management & Development
Alongside the consulting practice, KMGC holds and advises on real estate — acquisition, development, and the management structure that keeps a portfolio productive rather than merely owned. We currently consult a property management company on exactly that: how a portfolio is operated, staffed, priced and grown.
The two sides inform each other. Operating companies generate the capital and the operating discipline; property provides the asset base and the durability. Property management, done properly, is itself an operating business — recurring revenue, field labor, vendor management, service standards — and it responds to the same structure we build everywhere else. We advise owners on both, and increasingly on how to build them in parallel.
Leadership
Managing Principal
Jeff has managed companies for more than twenty years, and has been the proud owner of a ServiceMaster Clean franchise since 2007 — earned, not bought, by graduating first in his class from the School of Entrepreneurship at the University of Houston. In his first two years he was named ServiceMaster Clean's Rookie of the Year, then Sophomore of the Year.
He is proud of the growth his companies have achieved — and prouder of what they stand for. Jeff considers his customers and employees partners and family, and puts their prosperity ahead of business profit, first and foremost. That conviction is the standard KMGC carries into every company it advises.
